Rounding out 2015

Outside Found Converted Bus Plans

When we set off on our bus adventure towards the end of June, we had two major objectives: make it up to Hoodsport, Washington to meet up with Alyssa’s family during their vacation and work our way over to West Yellowstone, Montana to meet up with my family during their vacation. We kept our plans for the first few weeks of the trip purposefully simple to make sure we had enough wiggle room to deal with the inevitable complications that came up once we hit the road.

Staying true to our plan, we beelined for Hoodsport during the first two days of our trip. We spent a week there with Alyssa’s family which turned out to be a great time to learn some of the quirks of the bus. Between Hoodsport and our next major destination in West Yellowstone, we had about two weeks on the road to explore some new places and adjust to life on the move. The three weeks we spent in West Yellowstone was a whirlwind of activity for us. Between work, biking, running, fishing, and spending time with the family we didn’t have any extra time to plan ahead for our next steps.

Throughout the entire process of the bus conversion we had been thinking about where our trip would take us up until West Yellowstone, but after that was really a blank canvas. Since we left West last week, we have finally had some time to relax a bit and think about the next steps of our trip. Last week we holed up at Wild Joe’s Coffee in downtown Bozeman to rough out the rest of our bus schedule from now until the winter months. I’m really excited about the places that we’re headed next and have put together a little list of the major objectives that we want to check off at our major stops.

If you live in or near one of these spots and want to meet up, please get in touch! We would love to meet you, give you a tour of the bus, or even go for a hike or mountain bike ride!

  • Congrats on the start of this amazing journey! We are hoping to follow suit in just a few short weeks, in our 30′ Nexus Viper. We’re doing pretty much what you are, too. Currently in southern Illinois with Jeremy’s family, finalizing the last few things on the rig. Next week we swing through Elkhart for a few more tweaks on the Viper at Nexus and head to New Jersey to spend time with my (Alexandra) family. Then mid-September we hopefully start the real adventure – spending the fall in New England. We hope to head west early in 2016 – maybe we’ll cross paths then! Until then, safe + fun travels to you three! (We’re traveling with our furry companions, too – a 60 lb. 14 year old Chow mix named Rosey and a 30 lb 6 year old Boston Terrier named Ramble. Fingers crossed they adore life on the road!)

    • Thanks for reading Alexandra! You guys are going to have so much fun. 🙂
